Hello Ken,
I cannot find any mention at all of a Howard Johnson's chicken pot pie recipe that is made in a crock, a crock-pot, or a slow cooker. Why do you think there is one? If you have seen or heard of such a recipe, I think it must have been created by someone who just said that their recipe "tasted like Howard Johnson's chicken pot pie."
I also could not locate a chicken pot pie recipe that said it was from HoJo's but that was not cooked in a crock. I found a lot of raves about how good Howard Johnson's chicken pot pie was, but no recipe. There might have been a Howard Johnson's recipe manual in each of the restaurants but I have never come across one or found a reliable mention of one.
That said, I found several mentions, including one from Pepin himself, that he himself created Howard Johnson's chicken pot pie recipe when he was working for them. Following that lead, I found this recipe for chicken pot pie that is cooked in a crock on a Jacques Pepin Facebook Fan page. The poster does not credit either HoJo's or Pepin for this recipe, but it might be worth trying since it was posted on that page: Jacques Pepin Fans Facebook Page
I also found a chicken pot pie recipe that the chef said was based on Pepin's recipe. It's baked, not cooked in a crock:
You might check Pepin's cookbooks for a chicken pot pie recipe.
I'll post this for reader input.
