Gosh Terry, there is no way for me to locate a particular recipe with so little information and such vague information. There are dozens of recipes with the name "creamy potato salad" and "from years ago" could be from anything from two years to a century ago. "A little on the sweet side" could be from any one of several possibilities, including added sugar or simply from using Miracle Whip 'salad dressing'" instead of mayonnaise or from some other added sweet ingredient. There's not enough information there to help me distinguish the recipe that you want from dozens of other potato salad recipes. All I can do is send you a few recipes with the name "creamy potato salad" and that have an ingredient that might give it a slightly sweet taste. See below.

Creamy Potato Salad 6 med. potatoes 1 c. celery, thinly sliced 1/2 c. onion, finely chopped 1/2 c. sweet pickle 1 1/4 c. mayonnaise 2 tsp. sugar 2 tsp. celery seed or cumin 2 tsp. vinegar 2 tsp. prepared mustard 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 chopped hard cooked eggs In covered saucepan cook potatoes for 25 to 30 minutes or until tender. Drain well. Peel and cube potatoes, transfer to a large bowl and add celery, onion and pickle. Combine mayonnaise with rest of ingredients except eggs. Add mayonnaise mixture to potatoes and toss lightly to coat. Carefully fold in eggs. Add salad dressing mixture to potatoes. Toss lightly to coat potato mixture. Carefully fold in chopped eggs. Combine sugar, salt, mustard, vinegar, and water in small saucepan. Blend together butter and flour, add slowly to liquid, stirring. Cook five minutes. Whisk hot mixture slowly into egg. Pour hot dressing over potatoes and toss lightly. Garnish with parsley.
