I worked in Houston during the 1980’s, and, in my building was a deli that served the best egg salad sandwiches. The reason they were so good was the roll that they put the egg salad on. It must have been a long roll cut in half, because each sandwich was about 8”, and you could tell it was half of a roll. They were torpedo-shaped rolls, and either they had scooped most of the inside bread out or they were baked hollow, but they were very nice rolls. I remember the crust on them was delicate and flaked off easily as you were eating them. They weren’t crunchy, but were stable enough to hold the salad in a nice round inside. Very good stuff. Anyway, what I’m interested in is what those rolls are called so I can find a recipe and try to replicate them. I don’t believe I’ll be able to buy them online, as I’ve looked and not had much success. Thanks, Phaed. As always, I really appreciate your help! Keith
Hello Keith,
I don't see any hope of finding the name of these rolls from your description. They could be anything. To have any chance at all of finding this, it is essential to have the name of the deli and details of the location of the deli. The devil is in the details and so are the clues. What kind of deli would help: Jewish? Italian?

Hello Phaed, I tried my best to find that deli. I don't even remember it having a name. It was just a little hole in wall in my building. I did find that the building had been torn down to make way for the JPMorgan Chase Tower. So, that left me with nothing.I'm sorry to have troubled you with this. I should have known better, because I know that I just don't have enough to go on to find out anything.
I do thank you very much for getting back to me. Take care, and may God richly bless you and yours!!!
