Sorry, there are too many uncertainties in your description. It might be a version of German "rouladen," but I cannot find a recipe for cubed steak and dill pickle strips and raisins that is rolled up and simmered in a tomato based sauce. No good clues. Need the exact name of the recipe, where you got the recipe, and an exact list of ingredients.
I will post this. Maybe it will be familiar to someone.
