Looking for Houghs cheese pie

Hello Patricia,

I had no success finding anything about the original pie recipe except for a handful of brief laments for it. I also gave the task to Google AI, who also had no success locating the actual Hough Bakery recipe. However, AI found enough clues about the recipe to be able to cobble together a copycat recipe for the pie. Give it a try. It might be on the mark. See below.

Copycat Hough Bakery Cheese Pie

You can replicate the classic with a recipe that incorporates cream cheese, eggs, and
almond extract for the filling, with a sweet, sour cream topping.

Ingredients:

Pie crust: 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust (can be store-bought)

Filling:
2 (8 oz) blocks of room-temperature cream cheese,
2 large eggs,
2/3 cup of sugar,
1/2 teaspoon of almond extract

Topping:
1 cup of sour cream,
3 tablespoons of sugar,
and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:
Prep and fill: Preheat your oven to 325°F. Beat the room-temperature cream cheese, sugar,
eggs, and almond extract until the mixture is creamy. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie
crust.

Initial bake: Bake the pie for 50 minutes.

Add topping: While the pie is baking, mix the sour cream, sugar, and vanilla to create
the topping.
After the initial 50 minutes, remove the pie and spread the topping evenly over the surface.

Final bake and cool: Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Allow the pie to cool completely to room temperature before slicing and serving.
