I saw your post and wanted to forward this recipe to you. A friend of mine asked if i had ever had a piece of Ollie’s pie. I said no and she gave this to me. it has been several years. Supposedly it is the real deal. Ollie himself wrote a note to “George” at the bottom of the recipe. disregard the red ink, i was trying to reduce the recipe further. Hopefully it is spot on.

OLLIE'S CHOCOLATE PIE RECIPE.
Reduced as best as can from recipes for 15 to 30 pies.
This recipe is for 3 pies.
egg yolks = 27oz.
butter = 1/3 of a stick, plus 3 Tbsp. or margarine
sugar = 4 1/4 cup
Hershey's dry
powdered cocoa = 1 1/2cup
whole milk = 1 1/2 qt.
vanilla = 2 Tbsp.(1 oz.)
1. Slowly add egg yolks in mixer on low
2. Add butter cut up in small pieces
3. Add cocoa
4. Blend all well
5. Slowly add sugar while mixing
6. cease mixing and add milk, stir in well by hand or slow mixer speed.
7. Bake 2 hours at 300 degrees
8. Allow filling to cool to the point that it crusts over.
MERINGUE.
12 oz. egg whites
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 oz. lemon juice
1. Whip egg whites in bowl of mixer with whip
2. Slowly add sugar while mixing
3. Slowly add lemon juice while mixing
4. continue whipping until fully "fluffed" -about 5 - 19 minutes.
5. Spread on top of pie filling about 1 1/2" thick.
6. Brown to a light brown under broiler.
7. Note: use of meringue stabilizer will make topping last. However, it will make the meringue less tasty.
(In cursive handwriting from here, the rest is personal remarks and not related to the recipe itself.)

Phaed's notes:
There is no mention of the pie crusts used for the 3 pies. Perhaps between #6 and #7 in the filling instructions, there should be an instruction saying "pour into 3 pie crusts."?
In the meringue instruction #7, there is mention of a "meringue stabilizer." There is no recommendation of which kind to use or how to use it in this recipe.
Hi Renee,
There is no mention of the pie crust. I suppose commercial pie crusts?
Pre-baked?

yes. my friend told me they used commercially prepared crust but it would probably be awesome with a beautiful, yummy homemade crust!
