Carole Hi Carole, Sorry, I searched for Horn & Hardart's date and nut bread recipe, but I had no success. I could not really recommend a recipe as being close, because I never tasted the H & H bread. However, many people also fondly recall the date nut bread/cream cheese sandwiches at Chock Full O' Nuts. It's a simple matter to capture it to a *.jpg file using the snipping tool in windows and then print it out. And I found one that is very, very close to it, so thank you! As I browsed through the recipes, I was reminded of an infuriating search that went on for years to find a recipe for Stouffer's Chicken Stuffed Pasta Shells. It was a frozen dinner entree from Stouffer's (in the red box) that I used to eat all the time in the 1980's. There were two jumbo shells stuffed with a diced/shredded chicken mixture and topped with a mornay sauce (I believe it was mornay, could have been just a white cheese sauce). I have tried to adapt several recipes similar to it, but none of them are just quite right. Maybe you, or someone out there, can help me out.
