Subject: Woolworth recipes
I have been looking for the recipe from women's bakery for their hot chicken pie they served at lunch time this bakery was also known as hunts
bakery....I hope you help me find these recipes.....thank you....
I have not yet heard from you as to the location of Women's Bakery or Hunt's Bakery. However, I am going to speculate that the location was Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. I cannot find any mention of a hot chicken pie from a bakery of either name. However, I did find a mention of a "vol-au-vent" that
was served by these bakeries. This is a small hollow case of puff pastry that may be filled with various fillings, including chicken and mushroom and
is served hot. I could not find a recipe for this from Women's Bakery or Hunt's Bakery, but I did find others, with photos. See:

Gravy made with chicken fat is the best tasting gravy.
In a #1050 B Hall China Oval Pie Baker, place in the order** given:
1 oz portion of chicken(light and dark meat)(may be sliced or shredded)
1 oz or 1 #24 dipper Cooked potatoes* in 1/2" cubes
1 oz or 1 #24 dipper Cooked carrots* in 1/2" cubes
1 oz or 1 #24 dipper Cooked frozen peas*
1 each Cooked pearl onion
4 oz Chicken gravy
Pour the 4 oz of gray over all. Wash rim of baker with water and cover with 1 1/2 ozs unbaked pie crust.
Bake 15 minutes in a 425° oven or until golden brown.
* A #24 dipper full is equivalent to 1 oz of the vegetables. Use of the dipper facilitates the process.
** The order of the ingredients is important because the baker is flipped when the pie is turned out.
